Did you ever not want to buy a doll based on the meet dress?

I really like Lindsey's meet outfit because it actually looks like something a 9-year old would wear. Especially those tights!

I don't care for Samantha's meet outfit at all, though as a kid I wanted her hat for myself so badly that I had a dream about it.

I didn't buy an AGT because I didn't like the first 2 outfits. I ended up with the red vinyl outfit. By then I wanted to doll, and just figured I would change it.

Elizabeth's dress is much prettier in real life than in the pictures. It is an irridescent taffeta and really changes color with the light. The detailing on it is beautiful.

the two meet outfits i liked the least were the agt outfit w/ the yellow jacket and the one w/ the red jumper.

also, i didn't like kirsten's meet dress at first,but now i just think she looks sooo adorable in that dress.

YES! I don't really care for Samantha's meet dress. She is wearing her play dress in the beginning of the first story. I prefer that one. I also don't care for Kirsten's. She should have come in her Dirndl outfit. She is in that outfit for a lot of her first story. If I ever got Kirsten, I will be selling her meet dress and buying the swedish one instead.

What's very weird about her meet dress, is there is never a book illustration (old books, at least) that she is wearing it. Not even her portrait. It is only on the cover.

My immediate response to your question was "No," but now that I think about it, I was really turned off from Lindsey by her meet outfit. It's got too much going on or something, it just doesn't work for me. I'm also not a big fan of Marisol's. My Mari hasn't worn hers since the day I got her. However, I love all the historicals' meet outfits (including Felicity's original meet dress, not the new one).

I could NEVER turn down getting a doll just because of her Meet outfit! How could you even THINK of such a thing [img]rolleyes.gif[/img] ! LOL! Then again, one thing that really turned me off from Samantha is her Meet dress! I think that it's horrid! But now, I really want Samantha, and just plan on changing her Meet dress the second I take her out of her box! If I get her, LOL! I also really hate the old AGT Meet outfit with the yellow jacket with patches. But, I really agree that I think of the outfits the dolls come in as "free" outfits.

That happened to me. I saw Marisol last winter, in the AGPNY, and I couldn't stand her outfit-so I refused to buy her. Plus well...money was short anyway. I got Nellie instead.

Then I found pictures of her in other clothes besides her meet outfit, and thought she was pretty.

I knew she was a LE, and would be kicking myself if I didn't get her. I received her last week and as soon I yanked off her meet outfit and put her in other clothes, I completely was stunned by her beauty and bonded with her.

Did this happen to anyone else?

I don't think the meet dress has ever stopped me from liking a doll. I tend to think of the meet dresses as a "free outfit." Plus with the today dolls there's always the possibility of mixing and matching, even if you don't care for the whole thing together!
